The summer is here and with the summer comes the House season. Defected released a compilation, in collaboration with Toolroom Records, Size, Strictly Rythm, Deconstruction etc., called “This Is House” on May 28th this year. Here’s a great mass interview in which many great DJ’s/producers explain what house is to them! The interview feature guys like Mark Knight, Riva Starr, Arthur Baker, Pete Tong, Erick Morillo and Afrojack. Enjoy!

Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team aka Orgasmic and Teki Latex recorded a great mix for Triple J radio (aired on June 5, 2010) with “a gazillion new tracks” including tunes from people like Teki Latex, Egyptrixx, Para One, Mixik the Cat and Lil Silva and so on. Enjoy!

Keep Watch vol. 18 features 36 tracks of the past, present and future of UK grime, funky, garage and dubstep curated by none other than DJ P.O.L. Style.
Amongst the plethora of tracks you can find many of Night Slugs’ recording artists like Girl Unit, Moska, Egyptrixx and of course L-Vis 1990. The mix continues with classic Dj Narrows track followed up with a handful of grime riddims that will blow your mind such as Rebound X’s “Rhythm ‘N’ Gash”. the grand finale is comprised of NMBRS records exclusives from SRC and Kavsrave followed by dubstep innovators Joker, Benga and a current favorite of ours Dubbel Dutch’s edit of Youngsta’s “Bongo”.

Been collecting up some good stuff over the last couple of weeks.
First out is the Buraka x Dr Martens tune in celebration of Dr Martens 50th anniversary. It is a cover of Neneh Cherry – Buffalo Stance. Download it from the Dr Martens page and check out the arty video created by Anthony Burrill:

Just got sent over three new tunes from the mandem Hostage, which he kindly would like to share with the readers of our blog. Thank you sir. Hostage is known for bringing a heady mix of rave, electro and house to the bass-hungry masses. Which is exactly what these tracks are filled with. He has already released 2 EPs on Nightshifters, and in 2009 he did a live Radio 1 Essential Mix with Annie Mac, and I am sure more big things will come from Hostage in 2010! These 3 tracks are dark, heavy and only for the headstrong – fusing elements of afrobeat, dubstep, dutch, tropical, and electro. Check them out in the players below:
