Now something for all the Simian Mobile Disco fans out there! Simian Mobile Disco / SMD had the honour of doing the decades’ first Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1. The mix has been described as “Deep, dirty and devastating” by some and Jas & James in SMD flexes their techno muscles, as well as some dubstep and electro muscles on this week’s Essential Mix! A new installment in the “We make it good” mix-series hit the net not too long ago. This time it is Salems’ turn to “make it good” and the mix is like you would expect from them. It could easily be described with the words: foggy, distorted vocals, drums snapping underneath anything, vocals screwed and slowed into Jello mulch. With other words a slow, deep and dark mix that probably fits sundays the best, but yet again like everybody else is saying: “It’s either the perfect accompaniment to the fall/winter blues or soundtrack to scrawling your name on your bedroom wall in blood, it’s up to you”.
