Chad B – Hit It

by IzziAndNizzi | August 18, 2010 | In Other No Comments

Nice video of Chad B’s “Hit It”, showing of Jersey’s club music and dance-style!

Katy B added vocals to “Man On A Mission” by Benga a while back, and it ended up being her first single! Check out the big video for the big tune here:

Since all eyes are locked in at South Africa nowadays, we wanted to present some of the great club-music South Africa ( and Africa in general) has to offer at the moment!

DJ Zhao has compiled an incredible mixtape of African and African-inspired dance music called “Ukulwa”. ““Ukulwa” translates to “war” in Zulu, and rather than divorcing diverse sounds such as kwaito and kuduro from their political context, he weaves the tape together with samples of people praising Mandela and giving empowering paeans to freedom, ensuring that even as we dance, we remember what we’re celebrating. In Zhao’s own words: “South Africa is surely rising as a proud modern nation, even as we rejoice in these blissful rhythms, we must remember this war, and both continue, and continue to be inspired by, this struggle against domination, against injustice.””

GRAB THE WHOLE ALBUM IN SEPARATED TRACKS HERE

Also throwing in a mix featuring more South African Kwaito music, by Moroka (the newest member of The Secousse Sound System from London). This mix contains older and newer Kwaito and it’s a good one! (Perfect soundtrack for the World Cup)

Download it here: Moroka – Secousse SA House Kwaito Mix (Hotfile)

Also throwing in an oldie, but a goldie/ Kwaito Classic. Enjoy! Africa FTW!

This Is House

by admin | June 13, 2010 | In Other 1 Comment

The summer is here and with the summer comes the House season. Defected released a compilation, in collaboration with Toolroom Records, Size, Strictly Rythm, Deconstruction etc., called “This Is House” on May 28th this year. Here’s a great mass interview in which many great DJ’s/producers explain what house is to them! The interview feature guys like Mark Knight, Riva Starr, Arthur Baker, Pete Tong, Erick Morillo and Afrojack. Enjoy!

Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team aka Orgasmic and Teki Latex recorded a great mix for Triple J radio (aired on June 5, 2010) with “a gazillion new tracks” including tunes from people like Teki Latex, Egyptrixx, Para One, Mixik the Cat and Lil Silva and so on. Enjoy!

Plastician

Brand new mixtape from Plastician! Here’s what the man himself says about it:

“Easy all,

Just a heads up. As many of you may or may not know, every year in May I give away a free mix which were always referred to as the May Mix. I’ve done this annually for some time now, and as this year will be the 5th annual mix, I decided to do something special.” …

“I decided to rename the mix series as well, a lot of people stumble across the May Mix as its found its way around the internet over the years, and I’m often asked “where is this month’s mix” or “where is the october 2008 mix”. To avoid confusion and hopefully to help stamp the fact that this is an annual occurence, I’ve decided to name the mix “Sound That Speaks Volumes” this year is the 2010 edition obviously!!”

Melé released an EP today called the “Bombay EP”, on Mixpak Records. The “Bombay EP” includes three amazing original productions (Bombay, And Of His Son and Flexi) and three huge remixes from French Fries, HeavyFeet and Nadastrom.
