Today the debut release from Kavsrave was released on Numbers. To celebrate the release of Quotes, Kavsrave has done the latest Numbers Podcast, mixing up Ginuwine, Lil Wayne and Hud Mo as well as an upfront Numbers exclusive from Kavs himself.

Next-level dubstep heat from the newest Numbers recruit, Kavsrave. Hailing from Croydon, aka the spiritual home of the ‘step, Kavsrave grew up making tunes and partying alongside close mates Joy Orbison and A1 Bassline. His music hits the very same receptors as Joker’s purple wow beats, a mix of super-tight future funk synths and roaring basslines that Jackmaster has been caning in his sets of the last 12 months. ‘P-Clart’ starts the session with a flush of floating R’n'B vocals coating a pirahna-toothed bass synth and expertly organised half-step funk. ‘Tightly Closed’ reworks this formula with hyperventilating vocal snippets applied to masses of crushing neon synth pressure and the instantly recognisable refrain of ‘Baggage Handler’ leads us into one of the years undoubted heavyweight anthems. If you like Terror Danjah, Joker or Joy Orbison then this record is a proper recommendation!

Maxsta may seem like just any other Grime musician, however, excellent is an understatement for this young and gifted 17 year old. Living in E6, East Ham, Maxsta started mcing at the age 14 and quickly became part of a Crew called the Mucky Wolfpack, which was founded by legendary grime MC Gods gift.
Inspired by the great success of artist such as Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Kano and lethal B at the time, Maxsta stuck to his graft, regularly featuring on pirate radio shows partaking in lyrical battles with anyone and everyone. After creating a buzz for himself within the scene it was inevitable that was to be introduced to artists such as Bless Beats and Wiley who felt that they needed to start working with the kid. In tern this also forced other artists such as Jammer, Frisco, Toddla T, Wretch 32, Little Dee, Maveric, Sensor & Delusion to collaborate with him. Maxsta also spent time recording music in the infamous Always Recording studios In North London were he was further introduced with Double S, Chipmunk and Vertex. Maxsta has now become one off the UK’s most talked about Younger Grime Mcs and is destined for great things.

To celebrate the release of S-X’s Woo EP, StayFresh Digital has released the Woo Mixtape. The mixtape features over 46 grime mc’s over the woo riddim, including D Double E (who is smashing it with the street fighter riddim at the moment), Maxsta (Maxtape coming soon), Footsie (Newham Generals), Trilla, P Money, Jammer, Slick Don, J1 and lots of other big mc’s. The Woo riddim has been branded ‘the biggest Grime Instrumental of 2010 & for a very long time’ having had continuous radio play since October 2009 until present, from the mainstream to the pirate stations.

Jayou has just sent over a brand new tune he wants to share with the readers of our blog. The tune is called ‘TO BE’ starts out with simple drums and some spacey effects and it soon builds and drops into somewhat of a synth monster. Big things for sure. This is just a sneak preview of what you can expect to find in his forthcoming mix for Mad Decent, which you can expect to drop some time next week. So hold tight for more heat from JAYOU!
